What Are The Different Home Healthcare Services We Offer?
These days, healthcare is no longer cookie-cutter. There are countless ways for patients to get treatment, long-term care, and therapy. It can be difficult to keep everything straight when several terms and titles are being thrown out. We offer a wide range of services to help you provide long-term care for your loved ones. Understanding the different services we offer gives you peace of mind that your loved one is receiving the best care possible.
The following are some of the services that you will find at Atlantic Healthcare Services
Skilled Nursing
Skilled nursing care involves either an RN or LPN who has experience caring for patients in their home. Your skilled nurse is the leader and coordinator for your loved one’s treatments. He or she will provide assessments of the patient’s condition, perform skilled nursing procedures, and communicate with a physician to update and revise the care plan. They will also help you, your family, and the patient with education on topics like diet, exercise, self-care measures, and medications. All of our skilled nurses are fully certified and licensed in the state of practice.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
CNAs typically work in a wide variety of settings, ranging from hospitals, in home care, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes to name a few. Our CNAs provide in-home care for your loved one and act as a relay between the skilled nurse in charge and the patient. They are the eyes and ears for the head nurse when he or she is not present. Our CNAs are responsible for taking vital signs, assisting patients when moving (going to the bathroom, in bed, etc.), and assisting with feeding and personal hygiene. The CNA working with your loved one will also provide companionship and emotional support while they are with your loved one providing in-home care.
Healthcare Companion
Companion care is employed primarily for seniors who are still living at home. Emotional distress and loneliness are often problems that seniors living alone experience. We offer healthcare companion services to help provide emotional support for your elderly loved one. This service is best for when your loved one is in good health and wants to retain independence at home, but needs some help with basic, non-medical services. Our healthcare companions will help your loved one with light housekeeping, cooking, and other daily activities while being friendly, encouraging, and fostering a nurturing and safe atmosphere.
Live-In Care
Like companion care discussed above, live-in care takes place in your loved one’s home. Our fully-certified caregivers provide 24/7 care for your loved one who needs more advanced help in all areas of life than a healthcare companion can provide. For example, our live-in care providers will assist with tasks like accompanying your loved one on errands, helping with cooking and eating meals, cleaning, walking, and more. Since our live-in companion providers are present 24/7, we usually assign a team of two or three individuals to provide care. They will work on a rotating schedule to ensure that your loved one gets the best care possible, around the clock.
Special Needs Care
Most of the time, when a child is diagnosed with special needs, the family isn’t adequately prepared to provide enough care. At the same time, caring for a child with special needs is strenuous mentally, emotionally, and physically. If you and your family are dealing with the struggles of raising a child with special needs, our skilled and certified special needs care providers are ready to help ease the burden. Our dedicated special needs care providers support your child and your family mentally, emotionally, and physically. He or she will help with your child’s daily activities (including school at times), help perform with mental exercises and games, and assist your family with daily tasks like light cleaning or errands. In addition, our care providers are trained to act as an outlet for you and your family and provide support through the challenges of raising your special needs child. While special needs care is most commonly used for children, adults with needs for assistance with special needs may also take advantages of the special needs care we offer.
Hospital Sitter
Contrary to our previously listed caregivers, a hospital sitter does not provide medical or personal care for the patient. However, in many hospitals, a hospital sitter is available to sit with patients for various reasons. We provide patient sitting services for your loved ones in-home, in the hospital, or in rehabilitation facilities. Our sitters sit with patients whether they are dying, confused, suicidal, combative, at risk of falling, or in need of constant supervision. The primary goal of our sitters is to promote increased patient safety and mood. Should your loved one be in need, or in danger, they can alert the skilled nurse, CNA, or other care personnel. Our sitters also help to prevent injuries to your loved ones by preventing them from trying to remove IVs, getting out of bed and falling, or any other unintended dangerous behaviors.
